Turmeric – an ancient spice with many great health benefits

Turmeric is an amazingly delicious spice with fantastic health benefits, not least of which is that it’s one of the very best anti-inflammatory substances available right from nature. What better way to incorporate turmeric into your diet than with a turmeric smoothie! Here’s a great recipe for a turmeric smoothie, I usually drink this first thing in the morning and it’s yummy, even addicting! There are lots of different ways to combine ingredients but here’s the basic recipe:

  • 1 cup coconut  or hemp milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple or mango chunks
  • 1 fresh banana
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/2 – 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon maca (optional)
