New L.A. Metro and SoCal regional rail map just released

By Los Angeles

This past week saw the long-anticipated launch of the Expo line extension to Santa Monica, which followed the Goldline Foothill extension in March to the San Gabriel valley. With these major expansions of Metro service in L.A. County, Los Angeles is firmly in the midst of a public transportation revolution. With so many new stations, the Metro/Rail authorities had to create a new map to cover the rapidly expanding system. The new Metro/MetroLink/Amtrak map is YUUUGE and now covers seven counties from Santa Barbara to San Diego! Feast your eyes on this baby which is now appearing in Metro and rail stations around the county (click to see full-size)

Update: on closer inspection, it looks like the map actually covers 8 counties (it runs up to San Luis Obispo) and there is a major error in that it omits SLO county and shows those towns north of Guadelupe as being in Santa Barbara county when they are actually in SLO county  (oops!)
